Highest placed Northern California residents in each Varsity/Championship Section will be crowned State Champions.

Changed from Last year: Main Event Prizes and Awards
1. Two extra sections 1-3 unrated and K-6 unrated and more trophies than ever before... Trophies to top 20-25 players based on the trophytable.php in the main section (including ties for the last place).
2. Trophies to the top 10 schools in all sections except Kindergarten section. (Team score is the sum of the top 4 scores.)

Changed from Last year: Side Event Prizes and Awards
Blitz:
1. Individual Trophies to the top 3 in each section and the top player in each grade.
2. Team Trophies to the top 5 teams in each section. Top 3 players determine score (minimum of 2 players to qualify).

Bughouse:
1. Trophies to both players of the top 3 teams in each section. Highest grade team member determines section.

B. K-6 Unrated | K-6 Novice (u600)

C. All other sections
Schedule& Time Control: (Sat) Arrive by 7:45am. (Sun) Arrive by 9:30am, 3 Games start at 10 am.

(i) 1-3 Varsity & 4-6 Jr. Varsity (u900): G/60.
(ii) 4-5 Varsity, 7-8 Jr. Varsity (u900), & 9-12 Jr. Varsity (u1000): G/75.
(iii) 4-6 Varsity, 7-8 Varsity, 9-12 Varsity G/90.

EntryFee: Before 2/17: $45 | 2/18-5/14: $55 | Onsite: $79.

D. Two tournament special for K-3 Unrated or K-3 Novice (u500) only
Schedule& Time Control: G/30 (ea. player gets 30 mins.). Player will play in K, 1-3 unrated, or 1-3 Novice (u500) on the first day... (Sat) Arrive by 7:45am. 5 Games 9:00am - 5:30pm. Awards at 6pm. And, also play in K-6 unrated or K-6 u600 on the 2nd day. (Sun) Arrive by 7:45am. 6 Games 8:30am-6pm, Awards at 6:30pm. Points count for individual and team prizes on both days.
Entry Fee: Before 2/17: $50 | 2/18-5/14: $60 | Onsite: $84.

E. BLITZ (5 min. chess): Fri 5/16 6-8:30 pm. Late registration on Fri. 5/16 5-5:30 pm. (Fri) Arrive by 5:45pm.

F. BUGHOUSE (team chess): Sat 5/17 7:45-9:45pm. Late registration on Sat. 5/17 6:15-7:15 pm. (Sat) Arrive by 7:30pm.
3 sections K-3, 4-6, 7-12. Individuals can enter without a partner (and we will assign one to them). Please see rules at bughouserules.pdf. Entry Fee: Before 2/17: $10/player; $16/team| 2/18-5/14: $12/player; $19/team| Onsite: $15/player; $25/team.

G. Calchess Membership & Discount: CalChess members discount: ($2). CalChess membership: $5.

H. Any changes: Requested before 5/16 7 pm: $0 | Requested after 5/16 7 pm: $20.

I. Online entries: Free (if paid by credit card ) | $3 (if paid by check mailed separately)

J. Mailed entries: Complete the form and mail with a check or hand-deliver with cash for an additional $3 data entry charge.

COACHES, PARENTS AND SPECTATORS MEETING: Sunday 5/18, 10:00am to Noon, Location: TBD. All coaches, teachers and parents are welcome to come to discuss the tournament and other CalChess issues. Only coaches can vote.
