We need your help to meet the increasing costs. Please introduce any sponsors to us and we will make it worthwhile for them. Get more information.
1. Rating Supplement: All sections will use the April 2013 supplement for ratings.
2. CalChess Membership: CalChess Membership is only required in Junior Varsity and Championship sections. It is not required in KG, K-3 Rookie, K-3 Beginner, 4-6 Rookie, 4-6 Beginner, 6-8 Beginner, and 9-12 beginner sections.
3. Different Rating Cutoffs and New Sections:
The 6-8 Junior Varsity and 9-12 Junior Varsity sections are split into two sections: Booster and Junior Varsity. The 9-12 Championship section is going to be an elite K-12 FIDE rated section with 1600+ rating limit. No play-up fee is needed for Grade K-8 rated over 1600 who wants to participate in it.
Championship Sections: 1-3 is 800+, 4-5 is 800+, 4-6 is 800+, 6-8 is 1200+, and 9-12 is 1600+.
Beginner Sections: K-3 is under 500, 4-6 is under 500, 6-8 is under 800, and 9-12 is under 800.
Junior Varsity Sections: K-3 is 500-799, 4-6 is 500-799, 6-8 is 800-1200, and 9-12 is 800-1600.
Rookie Sections: K-3 and 4-6 retain their Rookie sections.
All sections for new and under 800 rated players are one day. Grades 1-3 are on Saturday and KG, and Grades 4-12 are on Sunday.
4. Expanded Two Tournament Specials: Players in KG, 1-3 (unrated or rated < 800), and 4-6 (unrated or rated <800) may choose to play in a second section on the other day.
5. Electronic Recording Devices Reminder: Monrois remain the only allowed electronic recording device allowed. To buy Monroi at discount prices please click here to contact us.
6. T-shirts: Free T-shirts with early registration (before 2/27). Regular Price remains the same: Pre-paid $15; onsite $20 (limited onsite availability).
7. Hotel: This year the hotel is Santa Clara Hilton. Hyatt's rate were $30 higher.
8. Accelerated Pairings: Accelerated pairings may be used in any round based on TD discretion.
